After he returned to practice for the first time since suffering his quadriceps injury in Week 3, it looked like Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin would return to action after a three-game absence.
McLaurin was officially listed as a limited participant in practice on Wednesday, which was a great start to the week. Meanwhile, fellow veteran wideout Deebo Samuel did not practice, which leaves his status in doubt.
Unfortunately, the positivity surrounding McLaurin did not last long, as he appears to have taken a step back in his practice participation on Thursday.
Here's the latest updates on both Samuel and McLaurin.
Terry McLaurin injury update
According to Commanders beat writer Ben Standig, McLaurin was not spotted at practice during the open portion of the session on Thursday. If he doesn't practice, McLaurin's lack of participation would mark a downgrade from Wednesday.
That's a concern for his Week 7 status, but we can't rule out the Commanders simply giving McLaurin a rest day. After all, his practice on Wednesday was his first in weeks and Washington might just be managing his reps.
We may know more when the injury report drops later in the day.
Deebo Samuel injury update
As for Deebo, he wasn't spotted at practice, either, which marks the second consecutive day he has sat out with his heel issue.
Considering Samuel played with just a single limited practice last week, we're less concerned about his status for now.
Adding to that, head coach Dan Quinn made it quite clear the team would have to "manage" Samuel's bruised heel in order to help him get back to 100%.
We shall see how things shake out for both McLaurin and Samuel when the injury report is out later in the day, but for now it looks like both are going in the wrong direction when it comes to their chances of playing in Week 7.
