Sean Taylor has been gone nearly two decades.
This weekend, his younger brother will take a step toward trying to honor Sean in Washington.
Gabe Taylor, also a defensive back, signed with the Commanders in undrafted free agency and is taking part in Washington's rookie minicamp this weekend.
His agency, Creed Sports and Entertainment, shared this message on social media:
"Now he has the chance to make his mark, forge his own path, compete for a roster spot and honor the memory of Sean. Gabe couldn't be more excited, focused, and ready for the opportunity."
Gabe Taylor played five seasons at Rice with the Owls.
In his college career, Gabe Taylor had 231 tackles.

Taylor's agents told ESPN that he had multiple offers but chose Washington because that's the team he grew up rooting for.
Sean was a two-time Pro Bowler after being taken No. 5 in the 2004 NFL Draft. He died at 24 after being shot by an intruder at his home.
Sean Taylor had 12 interceptions and 305 tackles in 55 games with Washington.
