It has been a season to forget for the Washington Commanders. The team reached the NFC Championship Game last season and had high hopes this year, but those hopes faded a long time ago.
After being destroyed 31-0 by the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, they have dropped to 3-10 on the season. To make matters worse, the team's franchise quarterback, Jayden Daniels, suffered another injury and had to leave the game.
Earlier this season, Daniels suffered a horrific-looking arm injury that many thought would end his season. Instead, the Commanders worked to get him back on the field and he returned on Sunday, only to get injured again.

Daniels did not return after that play and the team turned to Marcus Mariota for the remainder of the game. This season is over for the Commanders and they need to start preparing for next year. The most important part of the team's future is Daniels and his health and head coach Dan Quinn may be putting his job on the line if he continues to play him this season.
Commanders fans have likely had bad flashbacks to Robert Griffin III. RG3 won the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2012 (Daniels won that award last season) and he looked like he was going to be the player that turned the franchise around. But that season ended with Washington losing a playoff game to the Seattle Seahawks with Griffin suffering a major knee injury in a game many felt he should not have played in. His career never recovered from that injury.
The Commanders are on the verge of the same thing happening with Daniels and RG3 sees it.
Griffin is speaking from experience from that tweet and the Commanders' coaching staff and front office should heed his warning before history repeats itself in a very negative way.
The Commanders have four games remaining and won't sniff a playoff spot this season, so it's time to shut him down until next year. Mariota has performed well for a backup and he can lead the team for the rest of this year and hopefully stop the bleeding before things really get out of control in the nation's capital.
Quinn is one of the NFL's better head coaches but he needs to make the smart decision here before the Commanders are forced to make what would ultimately be a big mistake by relieving him of his duties.
