The Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders will do battle at Northwest Stadium on Saturday and running backs Chris Rodriguez and Jacory Croskey-Merritt and tight end Dallas Goedert will all be in action.
While the Eagles' passing attack has been a mess overall this season, Goedert has still managed to stay productive and is posting one of the better campaigns of his career as a pass-catcher.
Croskey-Merritt once looked like he would take the reins of the Commanders' backfield for the rest of the season, but he lost his starting job to Rodriguez recently.
However, JCM posted a strong showing in Week 15 that has put him back on the fantasy football starting radar for Week 16.
Now, a look at some start or sit advice for Rodriguez, Croskey-Merritt and Goedert.
Jacory Croskey-Merritt start or sit advice
"Bill" ripped off 96 rushing yards and one touchdown in the Week 15 win over the New York Giants, ranking as RB15 overall last week.
However, he also did that while Rodriguez was out of the lineup, and we know that the Commanders gave the veteran the starting job over JCM when he was healthy.
We would expect that to be the case on Saturday night. At best for JCM, the two backs will split work almost evenly.
Adding to that concern, the Commanders might find themselves chasing points, which would lead to a negative game script for both running backs.
There are just too many concerns to start JCM in Week 16.
Verdict: Sit
Chris Rodriguez start or sit advice
With Rodriguez back healthy, we would expect him to resume his role as the lead running back for Washington, although it's more possible he splits work almost evenly with Croskey-Merritt after the rookie's standout showing in Week 15.
The starting role for Rodriguez hasn't exactly proven fruitful. Since Week 9, when Rodriguez started seeing more touches, he only ranks as RB39 overall.
The Eagles present a decent but not great matchup for Rodriguez, with Philly surrendering the 13th-most fantasy points per game to running backs.
There is the potential that the game script won't favor Rodriguez, as Philly could very well jump out to an early lead, leading to Washington throwing more.
While you can certainly justify starting Rodriguez in a bad situation, it's best to roll with a player in your flex spot who has been more consistent and productive this season.
Verdict: Sit
Dallas Goedert start or sit advice
Despite the dysfunction the Eagles have seen through the air this season, Goedert still ranks as TE6 overall going into Week 16, which makes him an every-week starter, regardless of matchup.
Add in the fact that the Commanders are giving up the second-most fantasy points per contest to tight ends this season and it makes starting Goedert even more of a no-brainer.
Verdict: Start
