The Washington Commanders are dealing with injuries to two of their key offensive players, as both quarterback Jayden Daniels and wide receiver Terry McLaurin have been ruled out for Week 4.
Daniels is missing his second straight game with a knee sprain, while McLaurin has been ruled out due to a quadriceps injury he suffered in Week 3.
While McLaurin is considered week-to-week, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that the veteran wideout is not expected to be placed on injured reserve.
"The expectation is Commanders will not place Terry McLaurin on IR. Team treating this as true week-to-week situation," Fowler wrote on Saturday.
That's good news because it means the Commanders think he can return sooner rather than later. If Washington were to place McLaurin on injured reserve, he would be forced to miss at least four games.
Adding to the Commanders' issues at wide receiver, the team is also without Noah Brown for a second consecutive game due to groin and knee issues, which leaves Washington very thin at wide receiver.
Deebo Samuel is now the No. 1 target, and youngsters like Jaylin Lane and Luke McCaffrey must step up. The same can be said for veteran Chris Moore.
The Commanders will take on the Atlanta Falcons in Week 4 on Sunday, and after that they draw a tough matchup against an elite Los Angeles Chargers defense in Week 5.
