The Washington Commanders traded for Deebo Samuel before this season knowing he had only one year remaining on his contract.

That's going to create a fascinating free agent situation in the upcoming offseason.

And on Christmas, Samuel reminded people of how much he can be worth.

That's a guy who a team could choose to sign this offseason.

But for what?

ESPN's Ben Solak wrote this on X:

"Truly fascinated by Deebo's free agent market this offseason. He's looked markedly faster this year than 2024 with the 49ers. Low volume/lower contact role is keeping him fresh."

Samuel is playing hard late in the season even though the Commanders have nothing to play for as a team. He has plenty to play for as an individual.

Someone might get a unique, talented player in free agency. But who, and for how much? We'll have to wait and see.
