Why Titans have inside track to hire Kevin Stefanski over Giants, other suitors image

Kevin Stefanski is expected to draw plenty of interest for head coach-needy teams this offseason and there's a reason to believe the Tennessee Titans might have the inside track to landing him.

According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, the Titans are set to interview the former Cleveland Browns head coach on Saturday.

Stefanski is also expected to be at the top of the list of candidates for at least one more team, the New York Giants, per Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer.

The Titans might have an advantage over the Giants thanks to quarterback Cam Ward.

That's because, per Cabot, the Browns were planning on drafting Ward if he had fallen past the No. 1 overall pick last year.

"Former Browns coach Kevin Stefanski will interview with the Titans on Sat.," she reported. "Browns would’ve drafted Cam Ward at No. 2 if he somehow fell there."

That shows Stefanski liked Ward, and chances are that hasn't changed after the Titans signal-caller finished the year strong and began looking like a starting-caliber quarterback after a rough start to the season.

The Giants have their own impressive young quarterback in Jaxson Dart, though, and they have a true No. 1 wide receiver in Malik Nabers already in place.

But if Stefanski's decision comes down to which quarterback he likes more, his past interest in Ward might put Tennessee over the top.
