The Tennessee Titans' hiring of Brian Callahan failed miserably, which leaves the team in the market for a new head coach in 2026.

While the Titans were one of the worst teams in the NFL in 2025, they are still an attractive destination thanks to the presence of Cam Ward and a ton of cap space.

With Ward in the mix, there is a strong belief the Titans will opt for an offensive-minded coach, but it's very possible Tennessee will go in a different direction following their striking out with Callahan.

And that's exactly what AllSportsPeople' Vinnie Iyer predicts. He believes the Titans will hire Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula.

"Don Shula's grandson, Dave Shula's son and Mike Shula's nephew is ready to return the family legacy to the NFL. The 39-year-old Rams defensive coordinator is a rising star and would be ideal for the Titans to do a 180 from offensive-minded bust Brian Callahan," Iyer wrote.

The Titans have requested to interview Shula in this cycle, so him landing in Tennessee could very well happen.

Shula has a head-coach pedigree given his famous family that is highlighted by his grandfather and legendary Miami Dolphins head coach Don Shula.

But that's not the only attractive things about Shula, who oversaw a Rams defense in 2025 that finished top 10 in the NFL in points allowed (10th) and takeaways per contest (fifth).

Shula would take over a Titans defense that needs work but has a decent foundation with guys like Jeffery Simmons, T'Vondre Sweat, Cedric Gray and Amani Hooker.

The most important thing will be Shula's plan on offense. He'll need to provide a sound strategy at offensive coordinator because of Ward, whose development is paramount.

We tend to believe the Titans will opt for a head coach with more experience this time around after getting burned by Callahan, but if Tennessee does decide to go with a first-time head coach once again, Shula is one of the best options.
