The Pittsburgh Steelers had a rough Sunday, losing 26-7 to a struggling Buffalo Bills team. The offense faltered as Aaron Rodgers took a beating, while the defense allowed a limited Bills offense to rush for 249 yards. The Steelers are 2-5 in their last seven games, and that fast start towards the playoffs seems like a distant memory. And, like every year, the rumblings are starting to happen again in Pittsburgh about the Steelers needing to move on from Tomlin. No one knows if there are any realistic thoughts within the Steelers organization behind them moving on from Tomlin. But if there is a separation between Tomlin and the Steelers, the Titans should be on the phone immediately, and they would be oh-so-lucky to have him agree to be their next head coach.

Tomlin becoming the coach of the Tennessee Titans would bring instant credibility to the franchise. As it is currently, the Titans do not have as much credibility as they had in the past with guys like Eddie George, Steve McNair, and Derrick Mason. Tomlin has been a proven winner, winning multiple Super Bowls and never having a losing season. That type of winning culture is what Titans fans are clamoring for, and adding Tomlin to lead this franchise on the field would do wonders to energize the fanbase and let them know the Titans are trying to establish a foundation for this new era of football.

Along with credibility, Tomlin, in Nashville as the head coach, would also bring problem-solving skills. Throughout his career, he has won games with quarterbacks like Devlin Hodges, Landry Jones and Mason Rudolph, among others. The McGuyver of coaches, he always finds ways for his teams to win through tactical schemes and by getting the best out of his players, even if they are backups or less heralded. The Titans are a franchise hungry to win consistently, and with Tomlin, they could bring that to this franchise immediately. He has shown that no matter what kind of team he has, he can turn them into a team competing for a playoff spot at least by season’s end.

And lastly, Tomlin is a great communicator. His message has consistently been one his players take to heart, and they generally seem to enjoy playing for him. And most of all, he seems to be a straight shooter who knows the temperament of the room when it comes to his players. Pairing him with two guys who are hungry to win and leaders on the Titans, like quarterback Cam Ward and defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons, would be great for the organization and would also strengthen the leadership, as all three would be on the same page.

The Titans are looking to build momentum heading into next season and into 2027, when they are set to open the new Nissan Stadium. Getting Tomlin, if he is available, would be a great addition toward getting that momentum going and helping create the product the Titans organization, along with fans, want on the field.
