We're so used to seeing NFL wide receivers and tight ends wearing gloves in games that it's strange to see the pass-catchers of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers not wearing them in the Week 18 game on Saturday.

The pass-catchers for both teams have decided to drop the gloves in favor of their bare hands as the rain continues to fall in the winner-take-all contest.

Here's why players are ditching the gloves on Saturday.

Why Bucs, Panthers aren't wearing gloves

The reason behind not wearing gloves has to do with grip in the rain.

As the gloves get wet, it ruins the grip on them and bare hands are simply the better option, something Panthers wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan discussed over the summer.

"You're not supposed to wear gloves in the rain," McMillan said back in August. "All the grip goes away. You got more grip on your fingers."

So, there you have it.

No amount of technology in today's gloves can outdo a good old-fashioned pair of bare hands when it's raining outside.
