The panic button inside the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' facility isn't being gently pushed; it's being bludgeoned after the 23-20 loss to the Carolina Panthers, which put Dave Canales' team in the box seat for the NFC South.

Losing six of their last seven, fans have had enough, with some calling for Bowles to be relieved of his duties, but as odd as it is to be a team on this losing streak, there is hope.

If and that's a big if, the Buccaneers win their final two games, they will be NFC South champs.

And that isn't lost on Bowles.

"We understand that, the biggest thing is our confidence, our camaraderie is good, and that's high, but that's not enough right now,” Bowles said. “It's the execution that we're lacking and missing a few things here and there. We shot ourselves in the foot enough today to lose this ball game by three. We understand that. I think the guys are accountable, the coaches are accountable, and we're going to load up, and we're going to come back Monday.

"Hopefully, in two weeks, we get a chance to see them again and play for something.”

Buccaneers in freefall

At this stage of the season, you want to be in form and playing your best football.

The Bucs aren't even close.

Losing six of your last seven games is a nightmare form line coming into the final fortnight of the season.

As such, Tampa Bay's season comes down to Week 17 against the Miami Dolphins, who got blasted by the Cincinnati Bengals. A win there is essential; otherwise, the Panthers will have a great chance of winning the division.

Tampa is in freefall, yet can still make the postseason.

The NFL is a crazy business, folks.

But the Buccaneers still have life...just.
