Rookie defensive back Shilo Sanders is looking for a new home in the NFL after he was waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier this week.
Sanders was cut loose on Aug. 24, just one day after he was ejected from the final preseason game after throwing a punch at Buffalo Bills tight end Zach Davidson.
There was some thought that Sanders, who is the son of NFL legend Deion Sanders and the brother of Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders, would end up returning to Tampa Bay on the practice squad, but that has yet to come to fruition.
In an article naming possible landing spots for Sanders, Pro Football and Sports Network's Scott Di Benedetto isn't ruling out a return to the Bucs, but he thinks Sanders could also land with the Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, Denver Broncos or Browns.
It's hard to envision the Browns taking a chance on Sanders with Shedeur already on the roster. The brothers being on the same team would draw a ton of attention the Browns might not want.
The Cowboys seem like the most likely destination. After all, Dallas owner and general manager Jerry Jones has a good relationship with Deion and could do his old friend a solid by giving Shilo a chance on the practice squad.
In a video from his YouTube page, Sanders addressed his future in the NFL and is leaving the door open for opportunities outside of the league.
“I’ll be talking to my agent and we’re waiting on the next opportunity. If that’s in the NFL, cool, but God has blessed me with a lot of talent to do things other than football,” Sanders said.
While Sanders could get another opportunity in the NFL, it's likely going to come on a team's practice squad if he does. If not, Sanders could look to join a different league, with the United Football League being among the possibilities.
Many players have used the UFL as a springboard into the NFL and it's conceivable Sanders could do the same at some point down the line.
