Mike Evans injury update: Latest news as Buccaneers WR suffers broken collarbone image

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers finally received some good news on the injury front heading into "Monday Night Football," with WRs Mike Evans and Emeka Egbuka both active following hamstring injuries, but Evans' string of bad luck continued when he exited with a separate injury.

Evans stayed down on the turf for an extended period after a hard landing on a near-catch in the first half of the Buccaneers' game against the Detroit Lions. He initially needed help just to sit up but was able to walk off the field with support.

The injury didn't appear to be in any way related to the hamstring ailment that forced Evans to miss three games, but it still raised serious concern for the Buccaneers.

Evans appeared to hit his head hard on the turf while attempting to catch a pass from Baker Mayfield. The Buccaneers quickly ruled Evans out with both a concussion and a shoulder injury.

After the game, Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles announced Evans suffered a fractured collarbone and will miss most of the season, almost certainly ending his streak of 11 consecutive 1,000-yard seasons.

Evans remained down on the turf for multiple minutes, initially motionless, and he struggled just to sit up before eventually standing up with assistance and walking to the sidelines. He was carted back to the locker room at Ford Field.

Evans was a frequent target of Mayfield in the first half of Monday's contest, but he didn't haul in any of the four passes that came his way. At one point in the first half, Evans appeared to bring in a highlight-reel 28-yard reception, but the call was overturned to incomplete even though a pass interference penalty gave Tampa Bay the yardage.

Monday marked Evans' fourth game of the season and first since Week 3.
