Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans is a free agent, and his future will dominate headlines for the NFC South franchise until a decision, one way or the other, is made.

Having dealt with injuries that derailed his 1,000-yard streak, Evans will turn for the offseason with a big decision to make.

Will he play on, or will he walk off into the sunset and be great as an NFL great?

Head coach Todd Bowles stated a couple of weeks ago that Evans had earned the right to decide his future, so time will tell exactly what No. 13 is thinking.

For ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the thought of seeing Evans with another team is difficult to comprehend.

"A dominant force in Tampa Bay for over a decade, Evans turns 33 in August and must decide whether to retire or continue playing," Fowler wrote. "It's hard to imagine him in any other team's uniform."

Evans faced with huge decision

We often hear tales of players who retired with some juice left in the tank, and some feel they could have gone on another season.

Conversely, we have seen what can happen when players hold on for too long, and they end their final season with a whimper.

Which way will Evans go?

Injuries aside, he proved he is still a top weapon in the NFL. The biggest question is whether or not he can physically go through an entire offseason and a regular season.

If he can, then he'll be back. And even if he thinks he can't, the Buccaneers would still likely offer him a reduced role because of the abundance of weapons Baker Mayfield has out of respect.

What Mike does will be a fascinating watch.
