Chris Godwin injury update: Buccaneers WR gets bad news ahead of Week 6 kickoff image

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have wide receiver Chris Godwin on the injury report ahead of the Week 6 game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Godwin is dealing with a fibula injury and did not take part in practice over the first two days of the week, which led to concerns about his status for Week 6.

On Friday morning, a report revealed that the Buccaneers wide receiver is not expected to suit up against the Niners. Here are the details.

UPDATE: Godwin has officially been ruled out for Week 6.

END OF UPDATE

After ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that Godwin was not expected to play on Sunday against San Francisco, head coach Todd Bowles confirmed the Super Bowl champ will be sidelined and is considered week-to-week.

"The injury is to a different part of his fibula than where he broke it last year. Either a hit or twist in Sunday’s game cause the new injury," FOX Sports' Greg Auman reported.

This is yet another blow to a Buccaneers' wide receiver corps and offense that is already dealing with multiple injuries.

The Bucs have not gotten Jalen McMillan back, as his injured reserve stint continues.

Adding to that, Mike Evans is in doubt for Week 6 after not practicing Wednesday and Thursday. Evans has already missed two games in a row with a hamstring issue.

As if all that wasn't enough, running back Bucky Irving is unlikely to play, also.

Look for rookie sensation Emeka Egbuka to get absolutely peppered with targets on Sunday. The Bucs will also need Sterling Shepard, Ryan Miller and Tez Johnson to step up.
