The Seattle Seahawks are in the NFC Championship game against the Los Angeles Rams, and are just one win away from the Super Bowl.

While the defense is a big reason they've made it this far, the Seahawks offense, and especially the special teams, cannot be ignored. Trade deadline pickup Rashid Shaheed has been huge for Seattle this season. But after the season, Shaheed will be a free agent.

The Seahawks will need to make a decision on whether to bring him back or not. ESPN's Bill Barnwell gave Shaheed a $15 million contract update, which, unfortunately for Shaheed, isn't likely to be a multi-year deal just yet.

Seahawks' Rashid Shaheed gets $15M contract update

"I would expect Shaheed to be looking at one-year deals with the hope of proving himself and earning a multiyear guarantee next offseason," Barnwell writes. "...An elevated version of the Atwell and Brown contracts from last season would see Shaheed land something like $15 million in 2026, which seems about right."

Shaheed is a tricky player to figure out in free agency. While he's an explosive playmaker, his role on the Seahawks offense hasn't been nearly as abundant as it could be.

Instead, Shaheed has just 15 receptions in nine games for the Seahawks compared to 44 in nine games for the Saints this season.

His production in Seattle as a receiver hasn't been nearly as good as what it was in New Orleans, but he's still proven to be a high-impact player.

The opening kickoff return touchdown in the NFC Divisional round against the San Francisco 49ers is a perfect example, as Shaheed is a big-play-maker and is worth spending capital on this offseason.

But Barnwell believes it's more likely going to be a one-year deal. The 27-year-old speedster is one of the best returners in the NFL, and should have teams interested in his abilities in that phase of the game at worst.

Shaheed is in store for an odd offseason, with Barnwell predicting that he will land a one-year prove-it deal worth around $15 million. The Seahawks should pay that, as Shaheed is too big a threat on offense and in the return game to lose.
