Geno Smith has had a no good, terrible, horrible, awful, very bad year.
The quarterback went from the Seattle Seahawks to the Las Vegas Raiders in a trade before the 2025 NFL season, and everything that has transpired since has been a bad sign for Smith.
The Seahawks went 10-7 a year ago with Smith, who was actually still pretty solid.
This season, they were the NFC's No. 1 seed with Sam Darnold at QB, and they're on their way to the Super Bowl.

The Raiders, meanwhile, brought Smith in to bring them competent quarterback play.
Instead, they had the NFL's worst record and will have the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, which they're expected to use on their quarterback of the future, Indiana's Fernando Mendoza.
Geno had a 2-13 record as a starter this season for the Raiders while throwing 17 interceptions.
He's 35 years old now, and although the Raiders have him under contract for a couple more seasons, it seems unlikely they can keep him around.
Geno Smith was so bad, he left a team that immediately goes on a super bowl run, and at the same time gets his new team the #1 pick. No team should employ this man

Smith likely won't be able to find himself a starting job for 2026, even if the Raiders release him.
His career quickly transitioned to being in its closing stages, and now we'll have to see how long Smith wants to hang around before potentially calling it quits for good after what was simply not a fun year for him.
