The Seattle Seahawks, after an impressive Saturday night performance against the San Francisco 49ers, have clinched the NFC West and the NFC's number 1 seed.
A 13-3 win over the 49ers gives Seattle the top spot in the conference and a fast track to the Super Bowl. But, for Seattle, this number 1 seed isn't just an easier road; it's a strong history that should give fans immense confidence going forward.
As Dianna Russini of The Athletic shared after the Seahawks' win, the Seahawks earning the number 1 seed has some strong history that bodes well for a Super Bowl appearance, and potentially a win, based on history over the last 20 years.

"The Seahawks have clinched the No. 1 seed for the fourth time in franchise history," Russini highlighted, "2005 (Made Super Bowl), 2013 (Won Super Bowl), 2014 (Made Super Bowl), 2025."
Seattle has made the Super Bowl three times, all coming when they were the NFC's number 1 seed. And every time they've been the top seed, they've made the Super Bowl.
As the NFC's top seed in 2025, history favors Seattle to make the Super Bowl. But, as seen by their alternating outcomes, if the pattern holds, the Seahawks would win the Super Bowl this season.
While this is far from a guarantee, and the Seahawks still need to play and win three games to make such a pattern come true, it's still encouraging history for Seattle.
The 14-3 Seahawks have been one of the best teams in the NFL this season, thanks to a stellar defense and a great offense led by Sam Darnold and Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
They've already punched their ticket to the Divisional round, meaning they're just one more win from playing in the NFC Championship game.
This has been an incredible season for Seattle, and if history repeats itself, like it seemingly always does, then Seattle will be heading towards not only a Super Bowl appearance but a win as well.
