It was a banner year for Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

The former first-round pick had yet another career-best season in 2025, posting 163 receptions for 1,793 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, ranking fourth, first, and sixth in those categories among pass-catchers.

In the process, JSN accomplished a feat that hasn't been done in over 30 years, according to NFL researcher Dante Koplowitz-Fleming.

Smith-Njigba is the first wide receiver since San Francisco 49ers legend Jerry Rice to lead the league in receiving yards while also being on a team that was the No. 1 seed in the conference.

And there is a good Super Bowl omen with that accomplishment.

Rice's Niners went on to win the Super Bowl in two of the three years he led the league in receiving and San Francisco finished with the best record in the NFC (1989, 1994).

In the other year Rice accomplished that feat (1990), the Niners lost in the NFC Championship Game to the New York Giants.

So, at the very least, Seahawks NFC title game appearance confirmed.

The Seahawks earned the No. 1 seed following a 14-win season that saw them beat out the Niners and Los Angeles Rams in what was the best division in football.

Seattle enjoyed its bye this past weekend and, interestingly enough when it comes to the aforementioned JSN feat, will take on the 49ers in the divisional round on Saturday.
