The Seattle Seahawks had to clear a couple of roster spots before their Week 15 game against the Indianapolis Colts.
They did it by cutting ties with one former Super Bowl champion and another former Pro Bowler.
The official roster moves came across the transaction wire Thursday afternoon: Seattle has waived Cam Akers and Shaq Griffin.
The RB Akers is a former second-round pick of the Rams back in 2020. He could latch on with another team before the end of the season.

He won a ring with the Rams in his three-and-a-half seasons there.
He then spent two separate stints with the Minnesota Vikings and a five-game cameo with the Houston Texans.
Akers played in three games this season with the Vikings (5 carries, 19 yards) and he didn't get into a game with Seattle before being waived.

Griffin is a long-tenured Seahawk, having been a third-round pick in 2017.
Griffin made the Pro Bowl in 2019 as part of his first four years in Seattle.
He then went to the Jaguars, Texans, Panthers and Vikings before returning to the Seahawks this season. Griffin has played in just two games in 2025.
Seattle is chasing a playoff spot and has chosen to turn away from two veterans in decline.
