The Seattle Mariners came up just short in the ALCS and now head into an offseason with a lot of questions. Their decisions on Eugenio Suarez and Josh Naylor are going to be the main topics of debate, with both hitting free agency following strong 2025 seasons.

But the Mariners have already made one decision as the offseason is approaching. With a $6 million contract option on the table for Seattle with Andres Munoz, the decision was an easy one.

As Francys Romero of beisbolfr.com reports, the Mariners are exercising the option for the 2026 season, officially keeping the star closer in Seattle for another year.

"Per source, the Seattle Mariners exercised Andres Munoz's $6 million option for the 2026 season," Romero reports, "A logical move for one of the most dominant relievers in baseball right now."

The 26-year-old reliever has club options for the 2026, 2027, and 2028 seasons. While his option in 2026 isn't too much, in 2027, it's up to $8 million, and in 2028, it's a $10 million club option.

With how he's pitched for Seattle, there's no reason why such a reasonable contract option wouldn't be picked up. Munoz is a staple of the Seattle bullpen and should be around for the remainder of his option years.

Munoz is coming off another incredible year and his second-straight All-Star nod. He had a 1.73 ERA this season in 64 games with 47 saves and 83 strikeouts in 62.1 innings pitched.

In the playoffs, Munoz had a 0.00 ERA in seven games, securing two saves and pitching a clean 8.1 innings between the ALDS and ALCS.

Back in Seattle for another year, Munoz should anchor a bullpen that should be on its way back to the playoffs. The Mariners have a top-flight closer back on a very reasonable deal.
