Will Fred Warner return for playoffs? Latest injury update on 49ers linebacker image

We haven't seen San Francisco 49ers star linebacker Fred Warner on a football field in quite some time.

That's because Warner suffered a broken and dislocated ankle back in Week 6 that was supposed to completely end his season.

However, there is renewed hope that Warner will make it back during the playoffs, although the Niners are going to have to win at least a game or two for that to be a possibility.

Will Fred Warner return for playoffs?

Yes, there is a chance Warner will play in the postseason.

But for that to even be a possibility, the Niners will have to make it to the NFC Championship Game or Super Bowl, as NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported.

Rapoport does add, however, that Warner would likely be limited if he does make it back during the playoffs, and he's more likely to be back by the Super Bowl rather than the NFC title game.

"Sources informed of Warner's situation say there is a chance that Warner's rehab could be going well enough for him to make a cameo in the NFC Championship Game if San Francisco is a participant or more likely Super Bowl LX, should it win the conference title," Rapoport and Garafolo wrote. "And even then, it would likely be in spot duty. Any early return might put him at risk of further injury."

Even if Warner is just limited upon his return, simply having him in uniform would provide a huge jolt to the 49ers at the most crucial moment of the season.
