What 49ers' win vs. Bears means for NFC West, No. 1 seed image

The San Francisco 49ers picked up a monumental 42-38 victory over the Chicago Bears in Week 17 in one of the highest-scoring games in the NFL this season.

Kyle Shanahan's offense was nearly unstoppable on Sunday night, as outside of a couple of punts and Brock Purdy's pick-six, the offense had no issues moving the football and putting up points.

With their victory in Week 17 over Chicago, San Francisco has inched closer to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC West.

NFC West standings

1. Seattle Seahawks (13-3)

2. San Francisco 49ers (12-4)

3. Los Angeles Rams (11-4, will play Atlanta Falcons in Week 17)

4. Arizona Cardinals (3-13)

It all comes down to Week 18. The 49ers and Seahawks will meet to finish the regular-season, and that game will decide the NFC West winner.

Week 18's matchup between San Francisco and Seattle at Levi's Stadium won't just be for the NFC West.

The 49ers are still a wild-card team as of right now. However, if they beat the Seahawks next week and take home the division, San Francisco will also be the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

So basically, it all comes down to Week 18. The 49ers will either be a wild-card team that will have to go on the road for most, if not all, of the postseason, or the route to the Super Bowl in the NFC will run through Santa Clara.
