San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall has officially been ruled out with knee and ankle injuries for the team's 'Monday Night Football' matchup on the road against the Indianapolis Colts.
.
Both teams have something to play for as the 49ers control their own destiny to the first seed in the NFC playoffs, while the Colts are attempting to keep pace in the race for a playoff spot and are relying on veteran Philip Rivers, who is playing his second game since 2021.
The 49ers have also already played the majority of the season without their starting quarterback, Brock Purdy, after he missed nearly two months with turf toe, but were able to stay afloat with backup Mac Jones filling in and going 5-3 in his absence.
Pass catchers for the Niners have also had trouble being available and productive on the field; tight end George Kittle missed multiple games after suffering a hamstring injury in the first game of the season, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has not been around the team for most of their season, and running back Christian McCaffrey is their leading receiver with 820.
Pearsall seemed to be on the verge of becoming one of the team's most reliable receivers, along with Jauan Jennings, as he had 443 receiving yards on 31 receptions through only five games played.
Although the second-year player may not suit up for the team on Monday, the most important thing is that Pearsall is getting closer to returning to the field. With the playoffs coming up, the 49ers will need their best players to get healthy at the right time.
