The San Francisco 49ers have played the 2025 season without their starting quarterback for the majority of the year.

Brock Purdy got hurt in Week 1, missed Weeks 2 and 3, but after coming back in Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, he went on to miss the next six weeks.

However, as Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports, Kyle Shanahan revealed in the taping of 49ers Game Plan that Purdy, after missing six weeks with a toe injury, will be the starting quarterback for the 49ers once again.

Brock Purdy is finally back for the 49ers

"Quarterback Brock Purdy will return to the starting lineup Sunday vs. The Cardinals, Kyle Shanahan just said during the taping of the 49ers Game Plan," Maiocco reports.

Purdy has missed the majority of the season and finally is making his return in Week 11 against the Arizona Cardinals. It's a welcome return for the $262 million franchise quarterback.

Mac Jones has been a solid backup in relief of Purdy, but knowing that the starter is back in the lineup should be a nice boost for the 49ers coming off a tough loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

At 6-4, the 49ers are still very much in the NFC West race and also have a strong chance of making a playoff spot. Purdy's return should provide a boost to the offensive side of the ball for the final eight weeks of the NFL season.

Before missing a significant amount of time, Purdy played in two games, throwing for a combined 586 passing yards, four touchdowns, and four interceptions. He also added 30 rushing yards to round out a decent start to his season.

Now, Purdy is returning, and he'll get to play alongside Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle, Jauan Jennings, and potentially even Ricky Pearsall.

Purdy's return is a long time coming, and while San Francisco is 5-3 in his absence, getting the franchise quarterback back is some huge news. His first test will be against the Cardinals on Sunday afternoon, as Purdy will try to get the 49ers to 7-4 on the season.
