George Kittle injury update: Latest news on 49ers TE's status in wild-card game image

The San Francisco 49ers have an injury concern with tight end George Kittle in the first half of the wild-card game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Kittle got injured in the second quarter after recording a catch near the sideline. He stayed down after the play and was clearly hurt. It did not look good initially for Kittle and we can only hope he avoided a serious injury.

UPDATE: Kittle has indeed suffered an Achilles injury and the 49ers announced he has been ruled out, as expected.

UPDATE: Kittle has been carted to the locker room and he has an apparent lower leg injury. This is just brutal news for the 49ers and Kittle. Hopefully it isn't as bad as it seems, but it certainly doesn't look good.

The Athletic's Vic Tafur reports that Kittle grabbed at his ankle after going down, so that appears to be his injury, or it's at least in that area.

You can check out the play Kittle got hurt right here. It looks like an Achilles tear, but we can't say for sure.

Kittle stayed down on the field after the play and is being tended to by trainers.
