Brock Purdy injury update is troubling news for San Francisco 49ers image

The San Francisco 49ers finally got quarterback Brock Purdy back in Week 4, but unfortunately his return was met with a loss.

While it seemed like Purdy finished the game up without any issues after his recent recovery from a toe injury, it turns out that may not have been the case.

According to Cam Inman of the Bay Area News Group, head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed that Purdy is dealing with some toe soreness, which began Sunday night.

"He didn’t indicate it to me during the game. Talked to him on phone last night and said it was starting to bother him. But nothing during the game," Shanahan said.

Purdy sat out two games with the toe and shoulder injuries he suffered in Week 1. He put in a pair of limited practices last week before turning in a full session on Friday and not carrying a designation into Sunday.

As of this writing it isn't clear if it's the same toe that has soreness.

Purdy certainly wasn't at his best on Sunday, with the signal-caller tossing a pair of picks and losing a fumble in the 26-21 defeat.

Now, all eyes will be on the injury report the rest of the week ahead of a crucial divisional matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. The bad news is, it's a quick turnaround, as the two teams will play on Thursday night.

If Purdy can't go, the 49ers will once again turn to Mac Jones, who was dealing with his own injury last week before he was able to suit up.
