The latest injury news on San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy isn't good.
Purdy suffered multiple injuries in the Week 1 game against the Seattle Seahawks, including to his foot and shoulder. However, the former injury appears to be the more troublesome issue currently.
On Wednesday, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed that Purdy was a "longshot" to play in Week 2. He did not practice on Wednesday.
On Thursday morning, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport provided a timeline for Purdy's return and it appears he's going to miss multiple games.
Brock Purdy injury update
According to Rapoport, Purdy is dealing with turf toe and will be sidelined two to five weeks with the injury. Rapoport adds that his ability to return after two weeks will depend upon how his rehab goes.
"My understanding is that Brock Purdy is out two to five weeks... with what is essentially a variant of turf toe," Rapoport reported. "It is a ligament injury that affects the bottom of his foot."
This is just the latest injury blow the 49ers have suffered early on in the season.
San Fran is already without tight end George Kittle, who is on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. The team also has injury concerns with wide receiver Jauan Jennings (shoulder) and left guard Ben Bartch (knee).
With Purdy sidelined, backup quarterback Mac Jones is going to get the ball for what looks like the next two games.
The 49ers will go to New Orleans to take on the Saints this week, and then return home for a matchup against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3.
