It might be Brian Robinson time in Week 15.
The San Francisco 49ers revealed on Saturday that star running back Christian McCaffrey has been added to the injury report and is now questionable.
The Niners are listing McCaffrey with a back issue, which is a new injury for him. He was on the injury report during the week, but with an illness.
As a late addition to the injury report, there's now concern that McCaffrey may not play in Week 15. We'll get confirmation no later than an hour and a half before San Fran's kickoff on Sunday, which comes at 4:25 p.m. ET.
That's the last thing McCaffrey owners want to hear in the first round of the fantasy football playoffs this week, but thankfully there's an in-house replacement in San Fran.
Brian Robinson fantasy advice
UPDATE: After this article was published, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that McCaffrey is expected to play despite his back injury.
"Despite being added to the injury report today as questionable due to a back injury, 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey is expected to be 'good to go' Sunday vs. The Titans, per source," Schefter reported.
While that's great news, that doesn't change our stance on picking up Robinson, who is already a high-value handcuff and should be rostered by McCaffrey's owners.
END OF UPDATE
If you own McCaffrey, are facing the team that owns McCaffrey or simply need some help at running back this week, go scoop Robinson now just in case.
If McCaffrey cannot go, the Niners are going to deploy Robinson as the starter and he's likely to get a massive workload in that scenario, especially if the Niners take care of business and crush the lowly Tennessee Titans, setting up a perfect game script for Robinson.
Speaking of the Titans: they are a borderline middle-of-the-road matchup, with Tennessee ceding the 13th-most fantasy points per game to backs.
If McCaffrey is out, start Robinson without a second thought.
If McCaffrey does play, there's a chance Robinson will still get a sizeable workload if the Niners can build a big lead on Tennessee, but that's just too risky to depend on in what is the biggest game of your 2025 fantasy season.
