Oh man. Not again.
The San Francisco 49ers' season is threatening to be derailed by injuries, for the second consecutive campaign, before it even really gets rolling. And this time, it's quarterback Brock Purdy.
Purdy is expected to miss between two and five weeks with a turf toe variant, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Earlier in the week, we learned from multiple reports that Purdy was dealing with both a toe issue and a left shoulder problem. Turns out the toe was the most concerning.

It's not obvious when Purdy hurt the toe, presumably in Sunday's game against the Seahawks, of which he played the whole thing.
Regardless, it means the 1-0 49ers will have to tread water with both Purdy and star tight end George Kittle out.
It's Mac Jones who will be the QB in San Francisco in the meantime.

Jones was the No. 15 overall pick by the Patriots in 2021, a year Kyle Shanahan says he would've taken Jones if the 'Niners couldn't land Trey Lance.
After three seasons in New England and one in Jacksonville, Jones came to the Bay Area to be Purdy's backup.
Purdy got his quarter of a billion dollars in the offseason with a contract extension, but now he'll have his first extended NFL absence.
The 49ers at least get the Saints on Sunday, a winnable matchup even without a few stars. They'll just have to hope Jones can do his best Purdy impression and that that'll be enough.
