The San Francisco 49ers seem to still be in the process of finding their identity on offense. In the team's 30-19 loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, there was a heated moment in the first half between Kyle Shanahan and receiver Jauan Jennings.
Jauan Jennings was returning from injury, but was rather pedestrian in Sunday's loss. He only caught one pass for seven yards and drew more penalties than he had catches.
Amid the heated exchange between Jennings and Shanahan, an assistant coach had to step in and separate the two. Kyle Shanahan did speak with the media about the incident.
Kyle Shanahan believes it was just a heat-of-the-moment exchange.
Here is what Kyle Shanahan had to say about the exchange:
"I think when you’re in an intense football game and stuff that two people who know each other pretty well and are pretty competitive about things can have really intense conversations that don’t always come off as a normal conversation, just hanging out after a press conference with you. But it’s stuff that you don’t need to make too many assumptions about because it wasn’t anything that big of a deal."
Jennings has been with the 49ers for all five years of his NFL career and has found some success in Shanahan's offensive scheme. However, Jennings has dealt with some injuries to start this season, and with the 49ers being unable to stretch the field in the passing game, that hurts Jennings' ability to be successful.
