The San Francisco 49ers are coming off a massive win over the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, barely squeaking by without their top linebackers.

With Fred Warner out due to a brutal ankle injury, the team is desperately in need of more linebacker help. Fortunately, some help might be coming.

According to Nick Wagoner of ESPN, the 49ers are making a roster move with Warner to open his 21-day practice window, in some incredible news for the banged-up defense.

49ers make exciting Fred Warner roster move

"49ers are opening the wind for LB Fred Warner to return to practice," Wagoner reports. "Not expected to return this week, but hope is still for NFCCG."

The 49ers are allowing Warner to practice this week, but they aren't planning to have him back for the upcoming Seattle Seahawks matchup on Saturday night.

San Francisco is playing on a short week, and while Warner is a tough player, coming back for this Seahawks matchup is very unlikely.

But if the 49ers can beat Seattle, the NFC's number 1 seed, and move to the NFC Championship game, then the 49ers would likely get Warner back.

And based on this report, if they make the Super Bowl, Warner would very likely return for the 49ers. This is a good sign not just for the 49ers, but for Warner.

For what was once deemed a season-ending injury, Warner has now begun to beat the odds and could return during the playoffs.

Despite playing just six games this season before his brutal ankle injury, Warner could come back right when the 49ers need him and be an instant-impact player for San Francisco.

He's not guaranteed to be back this week, nor even next week. But this roster move from the 49ers to open his practice window is a huge piece of news for the 49ers as they advance deeper into the playoffs.
