San Francisco 49ers standout tight end George Kittle addressed fans after suffering a torn Achilles tendon during Sunday’s wild-card matchup.
Kittle was carted off the field in the second quarter after being tackled following a reception against the Philadelphia Eagles.
He immediately clutched his right ankle, and replay showed him falling to the ground after a Zack Baun tackle but being unable to put any weight on his right leg.
Despite the injury, the 49ers went on to defeat the Eagles 23-19, earning a spot in a Week 18 rematch with the Seattle Seahawks.
Kittle shared his thoughts on Instagram on Monday.
"Football sucks sometimes," he wrote. "But I love it. I love these guys and this team. Heartbroken but have felt so much love and support from everyone reaching out. I’ll be good. Thank you. We aren’t done yet! Also when your team owner is the first person to meet you in the locker room, you know you’re in a special place. 🥃 cheers, all my love."

Kittle’s injury could sideline him for the entirety of the 2026 season, as a torn Achilles typically requires a 9-to-12 month recovery period. The 32-year-old recently signed a four-year, $76.4 million extension in April 2025, keeping him in San Francisco through the 2029 season.
The 49ers will find out what time they play after Monday night's game. They already know they will play at Seattle on Saturday, Jan. 17.
