49ers' Christian McCaffrey gets positive injury update after late Week 17 setback image

The San Francisco 49ers will be playing for a chance at the NFC West title in Week 18 as they take on the Seattle Seahawks.

Whoever wins the game will not only secure the division title but will also earn the No. 1 seed for the playoffs. A lot is at stake for both teams.

The 49ers have been dealing with some injuries. In this case, it's with running back Christian McCaffrey after he appeared to have picked up a setback late in their Week 17 win over the Chicago Bears.

Christian McCaffrey (back) logs first practice of the week on Wednesday

Christian McCaffrey appeared uncomfortable at the end of the 49ers' Week 17 win, and labeled the injury as back stiffness.

The running back returned to practice on Wednesday, and ESPN's Nick Wagoner reported that McCaffrey doesn't have an injury designation for Week 18. This news shows that he will be available in the final week of the NFL's regular season.

This will be huge for the 49ers in their quest for the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

The 29-year-old is in line to play in all 17 regular-season games this season. This is a huge improvement from 2024, when he only played in four games while dealing with bilateral Achilles tendinitis and a PCL injury in his left knee.

So far this season, McCaffrey is eighth among all running backs in rushing yards (1,179) and first in receiving yards (890).
