Why Lions' last-second touchdown was overturned, leading to loss to Steelers image

The Detroit Lions had one of the wildest losses you will ever see in the Week 16 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

With just seconds remaining, quarterback Jared Goff connected on a pass to wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown near the goal line, but the wideout was short of scoring the touchdown the Lions needed to win the game.

But before he could be tackled, the pass-catcher tossed the ball back to Goff, who crossed the goal line for what we thought was a game-winning touchdown.

However, the score was overturned because of an offensive pass interference called away from the ball.

Officials even announced that the Lions had scored, but the offensive pass interference negated the score.

And, since there was no time left on the clock and the penalty was on the offense, another play was not run.

That is an absolutely brutal way to lose a game and now the Lions are on the brink of elimination entering Week 17.
