Aaron Rodgers is heading for free agency. Or maybe for retirement.
But a reunion with the Pittsburgh Steelers now seems more in play than it did earlier in the week. That's because on Saturday, the Steelers hired Mike McCarthy as their new head coach to replace Mike Tomlin.
Rodgers and McCarthy were together with the Green Bay Packers, where they won a Super Bowl.
It seems Rodgers might feel better about returning to Pittsburgh now that it's a familiar face calling the shots.

What Aaron Rodgers has said about Mike McCarthy
There was a fascinating interview done by The Athletic's Matt Schneidman in 2022 before Rodgers took on the Dallas Cowboys, who were being coached by McCarthy.
It offers some revealing thoughts.
This is one answer Schneidman just re-shared via X:
"This may not be an analogy that resonates with everybody, but I do feel this way. There’s a saying when you sit with a plant medicine that when you sit in ceremony, you’re kind of bonded for life and we used to always say, “When you win a Super Bowl together, you’re bonded for life.”
"And when I see those guys I played with in 2010 and when I see the coaches that were on the staff, when I see Mike, when I talk to Mike, there’s just always something that’s gonna keep you together because you won that thing together and you went through the adversity to overcome it to win a world championship.
"That’s always gonna connect us and bond us, and with time, it’s just increased the greater gratitude that I have for him, the time we spent together, the love I have for him and the appreciation for what he meant to my career."
That certainly sounds like someone who may want to play for McCarthy again if the opportunity presents itself.
And right now, the opportunity may have just presented itself.
