Pittsburgh Steelers edge rusher T.J. Watt finally addressed the cryptic social media post he made back in April.

When Watt's contract negotiations became a topic of focus ahead of the NFL Draft, the 30-year-old pass rusher posted a picture of himself holding up a peace sign while walking off the field on his Instagram story, which caused Steelers fans to grow concerned about his long-term future in Pittsburgh.

Obviously, those concerns proved to be wrong, as Watt recently signed a three-year extension worth $123 million with the Steelers.

In his first media appearance since signing his contract extension, Watt was asked about the cryptic Instagram story. The seven-time Pro Bowler stated that he was just having some fun and stirring the pot.

"Sometimes it's just fun to have fun with the narratives out there because, I mean, obviously I'm very in tune with what's going on in negotiations and how things are going and it's fun to see what you guys are all writing, thinking that things are one way even though they're completely a different way," Watt said.

"So sometimes it's fun, especially when it's early in the offseason, to kind of just kind of throw something out there and see what happens and it stirred things up a lot more than I ever thought it could."

Watt, who is entering his ninth season in Pittsburgh, has become the face of the franchise and a fan favorite. There was zero chance the Steelers were going to let him go, or even let him play out of the final year of his deal.

Entering 2025, Watt is still one of the sport's most prolific pass rushers and will continue building his legacy as a Steeler great.
