An NFL insider has provided an update on the Pittsburgh Steelers' possible interest in a trade for Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill.
The Dolphins are a total mess right now and there is growing speculation that Hill could hit the trade block at some point. That speculation was only fueled by Hill showing clear frustration over the first two weeks of the season.
Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio previously revealed a rumor that the Steelers could have interest in Hill if he becomes available.
However, it appears things have changed.
Steelers no longer interested in Tyreek Hill trade
Florio provided an update on a possible Steelers trade for Hill on Thursday and said that while Pittsburgh did have interest in a trade for the eight-time Pro Bowler, that's no longer the case.
The reason has to do with the recent accusations of domestic violence against Hill from his estranged wife, which the Steelers fear could lead to discipline from the league.
“I will share one little nugget as it relates to teams interested in Tyreek Hill,” Florio said the Pro Football Talk podcast. “I heard this the other day and haven’t had a chance to mention it. My understanding is the Steelers were [interested], but they’re not anymore because Mike Tomlin is concerned about what happens with this personal conduct policy investigation.
“Is there going to be a photo? Is there going to be a video? Is there going to be something that Tyreek Hill gets suspended for? They don’t want to trade for him and then lose him, which is not an unreasonable position for a team to take because why do you want to give up a third-round pick next year and have a guy come in and you raise up everyone’s hopes and then he’s gone in November?”
The Steelers' hesitance to pursue Hill is understandable. It would be a total disaster for Pittsburgh to give up draft capital for Hill, only to have him suspended later.
And, with Hill under contract through next season, that would be a concern in 2026, also.
