The Pittsburgh Steelers are (still) waiting on veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers to make his decision. With each passing day, the timeline for Rodgers to reveal his choice only draws closer.

Yet, nobody knows when he will announce his decision, although there have been some predictions. Until then, the quarterback room remains murky with Skylar Thompson, Mason Rudolph and rookie Will Howard.

On Sunday, the Steelers did make a free-agent signing, but it wasn't Rodgers. It was running back Trey Sermon, per Fox Sports insider Jordan Schultz.

"Sources: The #Steelers are signing RB Trey Sermon to a 1-year deal. Sermon spent the past two seasons with the #Colts, totaling 258 yards and 2 TDs last year."

Sermon began his college career at Oklahoma before transferring to Ohio State and playing well for the Buckeyes. Then, he was selected in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers.

He spent just one year in San Francisco before going to the Philadelphia Eagles, where he played in just two games. After that, he joined the Indianapolis Colts and played the past two seasons there with former Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen as the Colts coach.

Sermon was the backup to Colts star Jonathan Taylor, so he didn't see too much run with Indianapolis. In 2024, he did score two touchdowns while playing in all 17 games, and the Steelers RB room is looking different after Najee Harris signed with the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Steelers did draft Iowa RB Kaleb Johnson and brought in Kenneth Gainwell in free agency, so Sermon could enter camp with a decent chance to crack the 53-man roster.
