Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers announces retirement plans after free agent signing image

Aaron Rodgers had plenty of time to think this offseason.

He took about three months from the time free agency opened until he signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers to be their starting quarterback.

It sounds like Rodgers made his mind up about some key next steps in the process.

Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, Rodgers said that this will likely be his final year in the NFL.

“I’m pretty sure this is my last season and that’s why we did the one year deal," Rodgers said.

Rodgers is 41 years old. This will be his third NFL team after the Packers and Jets.

"I’ve played twenty years and I’ve enjoyed it," he said.

Rodgers had a rough Jets tenure. In 2023, he tore his Achilles on his fourth snap of the regular season. And in 2024, they went 5-12.

That record wasn't all on Rodgers, though, and he still showed his Hall of Fame quarterback talent at times.

He seems pumped about Pittsburgh, at least, which gives this partnership a chance to be successful.

"There’s no better way to finish it than with Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers," Rodgers told McAfee.

Steelers fans are hoping that Rodgers finds a way to finish in style.
