An analyst believes the Pittsburgh Steelers could be players for Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill should he become available via trade.

Trade speculation surrounding the All-Pro wideout has ramped-up following a report from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler that noted teams keep bringing Hill up as a potential trade target they're keeping an eye on.

"I know the Dolphins earlier this summer were telling teams, no, we're not trading Tyreek Hill. But (teams) just wonder, is he going to be available? It could be wishful thinking," Fowler said.

"Maybe they want him to be available, but he's a player that when I bring up the teams and say, 'Who's sort of a trade target you're watching?' They bring up Tyreek Hill, so we'll see," Fowler added.

As a result of Fowler's report, Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski identified four teams that could have interest in Hill and the Steelers were among them.

Here's the trade package Sobleski suggested for Pittsburgh and Miami:

  • Steelers get: WR Tyreek Hill
  • Dolphins get: OLB Nick Herbig, 2026 4th- and 7th-round picks

Here's what Sobleski had to say about the Steelers potentially acquiring Hill:

Earlier this summer, the acquisition of wide receiver DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks created excitement, even with the team's previous uncertainty at quarterback. Pittsburgh subsequently traded George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys, again creating a need for a legitimate No. 2 target.

By pairing Hill's blazing speed with Metcalf's physicality and Rodgers pulling the strings, the Steelers may have finally moved the needle and elevated their status as a legitimate contender.

Hill is coming off a down 2024 season, but he was also playing through injury and didn't have Tua Tagovailoa for a handful of games, so there's reason to believe he could be better in 2025.

The Steelers acquiring Hill isn't that far-fetched. After all, Pittsburgh is clearly all-in on 2025 with Aaron Rodgers under center and the team's wide receiver situation behind DK Metcalf remains shaky.

Trading Herbig would be a tough pill to swallow after he has shown plenty of promise over two years in the NFL, but Pittsburgh would still have T.J. Watt, Alex Highsmith and rookie Jack Sawyer on the roster, leaving the team in good shape.

When it comes to the draft picks, the Steelers are stocked enough in 2026 to be able to give up a fourth-rounder, of which the team is projected to have two when you factor in compensatory selections.

If the Steelers are hesitant to give up Herbig in a trade for Hill, they could up their offering in terms of draft capital to get a deal done. Pittsburgh is projected to have three third-round picks (one compensatory).

Either way, if the eight-time Pro Bowler hits the trade block, Pittsburgh should look to bring him in.
