The Pittsburgh Steelers needed this win to take over first place in the AFC North.

Superstar wide receiver DK Metcalf knew that, and he went the extra mile to make it happen.

In the closing moments, Metcalf took the field to be a gunner on a punt.

He sprinted his way downfield through two players and got involved in making the stop.

When's the last time you saw a WR1 do something like this?

Metcalf simply would not be denied.

The Steelers traded for Metcalf before the season from the Seahawks, then traded away George Pickens. They committed themselves to Metcalf as their leader out wide.

He apparently also knows how to make sure he impacts the game in other ways. Metcalf simply didn't want to lose.

This won't be something the Steelers do often. They don't want to put Metcalf in harm's way.

But the fact that he'd do it even once, and that he could do it this well, is a special statement about who Metcalf is and how he feels about his team and his teammates.

In the same week that Pickens was knocked for a lack of effort, Metcalf was out there giving everything he could.
