Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson has signed with the team's AFC North rival, the Cleveland Browns, but did so for a cheap price.

Going into 2024, Johnson had a chance to set himself up for another good contract in free agency in 2025 as he played out the final year of his two-year, $36.7 million deal that was initially signed with the Steelers.

But things did not go according to plan. After being traded to the Carolina Panthers in the 2024 offseason, Johnson became disgruntled with the bad situation the team had on offense, which led to him being traded to the Baltimore Ravens.

Then, just like he was in Carolina and Pittsburgh, Johnson became disgruntled once again, which led to him getting cut and landing with the Houston Texans where, incredibly enough, he wasn't happy, either, and was cut yet again.

Diontae Johnson contract details

Johnson ultimately finished the year with a career-low 357 receiving yards, and that, combined with his poor attitude, has led to him getting a veteran's minimum deal from Cleveland that is worth just $1.17 million and has no guaranteed money.

And now his bag fumble is complete.

If Johnson had simply kept his cool and just played football, chances are he would have produced far better numbers than he did, which would've led to a far better contract than the one the Browns gave him.

Instead, the former 1,100-yard wideout is making the bare minimum and isn't even guaranteed a spot on the roster. Talk about a fall from grace.

Now, it'll be interesting to see if Johnson has learned his lesson, but we thought he might have after his attitude got him jettisoned multiple times, so we wouldn't hold our breath for that.
