As the Pittsburgh Steelers gear up for a playoff matchup against the Houston Texans next Monday night, the team has parted ways with a veteran cornerback.

The Steelers announced they have waived cornerback Tre Flowers, who was signed while the team was having injury issues at the position.

However, Flowers has become expendable now that cornerbacks Brandin Echols and James Pierre are healthy. Both players returned to action on Sunday night.

Flowers appeared in one game for the Steelers after coming aboard but saw just two snaps, both of which came on special teams.

Pittsburgh extended its season on Sunday night by beating the Baltimore Ravens in miraculous fashion after rookie kicker Tyler Loop missed a field goal at the end of regulation.

Now, the Steelers will host the Texans in the wild-card round on Monday night at Acrisure Stadium, with kickoff set for 8:15 p.m. ET.
