Teams with healthy quarterbacks don't usually bring in other QBs for workouts.

On Tuesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers had two free agent passers in the building to go through the paces.

The NFL's transaction report indicated that Tanner Mordecai and Jason Bean worked out for the Steelers.

Pittsburgh did not immediately sign either QB.

Mordecai was undrafted in 2024 after concluding his college journey at Wisconsin. He has been under contract with the San Francisco 49ers multiple times.

Bean was undrafted in 2024 out of Kansas. The Indianapolis Colts had him in their building for a chunk of last season.

The Steelers play in Chicago against the Bears on Sunday.

Rodgers is dealing with a fractured bone in his left (non-throwing) wrist.

Neither of the QBs that Pittsburgh worked out would be expected to play if Rodgers was out. They'd be on the roster as a third quarterback.

If Rodgers misses game action, Mason Rudolph would be promoted to the QB1 spot for the Steelers. His backup would be Will Howard, the sixth-round rookie out of Ohio State.

Only behind them would be a conceptual emergency third QB chosen between Bean and Mordecai.

But right now, no signing of another quarterback could be seen as a positive sign for Rodgers' health.
