Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers would have had the Week 1 clash against the New York Jets circled in his calendar for months, as it was his "revenge" game to begin his new chapter as a Steeler.

That chapter got off to the best possible start with the Steelers emerging from MetLife Stadium with a 34-32 win over Aaron Glenn and Justin Fields.

Rodgers himself had a good day, going 22 of 30 for 244 yards and four touchdowns to lead Mike Tomlin's team to a win they needed to have.

Given the history between Rodgers, the Jets and, particularly, New York coach Aaron Glenn, with whom he had a rather blunt meeting in the offseason to be told his services were no longer required, this one felt like it meant a little more to Rodgers.

No doubt getting a win to open the season with your new team is the perfect way to begin this chapter, and giving the proverbial middle finger to Glenn and the Jets is icing on the cake, right?

Well, when asked post-game if there was any more meaning in beating Glenn after the sour meeting the pair had, the four-time MVP winner played a straight bat.

"I was happy to beat everybody associated with the Jets," Rodgers said.

That is precisely what we expected Rodgers to say, but he wouldn't be human if this didn't mean a little extra, given how his time in New York ended.

It was the perfect revenge for Rodgers.

He got his first Steelers win, and doing it in the Jets' building with Glenn and co. watching on would no doubt have been a sweet moment for Pittsburgh's newest quarterback.

Revenge completed.
