The Pittsburgh Steelers and running back Jaylen Warren have agreed to terms on a contract extension with just days to go before Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season.
The news was shared by Warren's agency, Aura Sports Group, which revealed that the extension is for two years. The financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.
"From East High to Snow Community College to Utah State to Oklahoma State to going undrafted Aura Sports is proud to represent [Jaylen Warren] and announce his new 2 year extension with [the Steelers]," Warren's reps wrote in a post on X.
A former undrafted free agent, Warren played the sidekick role to Najee Harris the past three seasons and has proven to be an effective back in his limited chances.
Looking ahead to 2025, Warren is expected to lead Pittsburgh's backfield, which also includes veteran Kenneth Gainwell and rookie Kaleb Johnson.
Warren had a shaky preseason finale for Pittsburgh, which led some to believe he may be on shaky ground and could lose his job to Johnson sooner rather than later.
This extension from Pittsburgh seems to suggests that isn't close to happening and the Steelers have plenty of faith in the 26-year-old back, although the financial terms will tell the full story.
