Pro Football Focus' stats and grading system can often be controversial, and we saw that first hand when it came to the outlet's coverage stats for Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Darius Slay.
According to PFF, Slay gave up 123 receiving yards in the Week 4 game against the Minnesota Vikings, something Slay took issue with.
"Now PFF I know (you) lying," Slay wrote on X when he caught wind of PFF's stats for him.
Vikings quarterback Carson Wentz ended up throwing for a whopping 350 yards in the contest, which means PFF has Slay giving up nearly one-third of those yards.
PFF had Slay giving up 103 yards to Jordan Addison on two catches, and Justin Jefferson and Adam Theielen notched 15 and five off the veteran corner, respectively, on one catch apiece.
Despite those lackluster Week 4 numbers, Slay has a respectable 67.0 coverage grade for the 2025 season, although he has given up a completion rate of 75%, a passer rating of 118.8 and 207 yards.
Pro Football Reference has similar coverage numbers for Slay when it comes to his completion rate (77.8) and passer rating (118.1) allowed, but has the former Super Bowl champ with 142 yards surrendered in four games.
It doesn't feel like Slay has struggled as the numbers would indicate, so we'll join him in calling cap on those.
