Nick Herbig injury update: Latest news on Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker's status image

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have met for a preseason contest in Acrisure Stadium on Saturday, and linebacker Nick Herbig suffered an injury on the opening drive.

Herbig played just three snaps before exiting Saturday's game with an apparent injury. The 23-year-old linebacker went to the blue tent shortly after leaving the field.

"Nick Herbig was in and now out of the blue tent, getting looked at by Dr. Bradley.  Went over to TJ Watt after and pointed to his leg. No doctor or trainer in sight now," Steelers insider Mark Kaboly said on X.

After exiting the blue tent, we got an update on Herbig's status for the rest of the day.

The Steelers announced that Herbig would not return to Saturday's contest versus the Bucs due to a hamstring injury.

"Nick Herbig is out for the remainder of the game with a hamstring injury," Nick Farabaugh of PennLive.com said on X.

Herbig already has a roster spot locked down, so it makes sense for the Steelers to keep him out for the rest of the game.

The Wisconsin product tallied 5.5 sacks last year in 13 games and will be a pivotal depth piece behind T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith in the outside linebacker room.
