The Pittsburgh Steelers made a key addition to their injury report on Monday with running back Jaylen Warren.

The Steelers revealed that Warren is dealing with an illness and is now questionable to play in the Week 15 game against the Miami Dolphins on Monday night.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Warren woke up sick on gameday and is now getting fluids. The Steelers running back is "optimistic" he will be able to play.

"Jaylen Warren woke up sick and is getting fluids, but I'm told he's optimistic about playing tonight," Pelissero reported.

Ahead of kickoff on Monday night, the Steelers made some roster moves. Here's what they mean for Warren's chances of suiting up.

Jaylen Warren injury update

The Steelers made several roster moves on Monday afternoon, but they did not elevate a running back from the practice squad.

That is a great sign that Warren is indeed going to play, as the Steelers only have two other running backs on their 53-man roster and would have elevated one if Warren wasn't going to play, or if he was in danger of not playing.

We'll get final confirmation on Warren's status an hour and a half before the 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff on Monday night, when the Steelers release their inactives.

If Warren doesn't suit up, the Steelers will be deploying backup running back Kenneth Gainwell as the starter.

Gainwell is having the best season of his career in 2025, with his 371 rushing yards and 286 receiving yards both career-highs for him.

Gainwell has proven valuable, even as the Steelers' No. 2 back, but he has also shown he can more than adequately fill in for Warren.

Back in Week 4, Gainwell ripped off 134 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns when Warren was sidelined due to injury.
